We are a struggling family.   We are facing foreclosure in less than two months and we are exhausting ourselves trying to find a place to go.   We do not want to save our house because it needs 10's of thousands of dollars in pluming work just to be livable.  We have had to shut the water off to our bathroom as the pipes are leaking into our living room and we are terrified that the ceiling will collapse.  Right now, we are bathing in our powder room sink.  We look thorugh our local papers every night, scour Craigslist for listings and drive around looking for houses with for rent signs in the windows.  Twice now, we've gotten our hopes up thinking we found a place to go. Twice now, the landlords mysteriously "changed their minds" at the last minute.  We live near a college and we've been turned down because we are not students.  We've been turned away because my credit is shot due to the house and a divorce from several years ago.  When people hear my current husband's accent over the phone (he's English) they either never call us back or girll us as to his immigration status.  Then, they mysteriously change their minds or demand documents stating he is legal.  He's going through the process and doesn't have documentation as of yet. 

Very soon, a family of four will be living in homeless shelters because nobody will allow us to rent from them. I have a full-time job which pays decent wages.  I can not let my children live in a homeless shelter.  That should never happen to people just because they are having a difficult time.  Between the blatant discrimation and the scams (don't even get me started on Craigslist), I'm about to lose my mind.   

This is no way to live.  We can't shower or take a decent bath, we drive around aimlessly wasting tons of gas and money trying to find housing.  We have no lives right now.  Every time we leave a house where the landlord has insisted on good credit, I burst into tears.  I don't know what else to do to put a roof over the heads of my family.  When I come home from work at the end of another long, hot day, I cry because I can't even take a shower and feel better.  The tiniest thing which I took for granted all my life is the one thing I crave most right now.  We don't know what else to do and we don't have tons of time to figure it out.

i am a 24 year old single mother of two little girls ages 5 and 2 years. i left an abusinve relationship one year ago-and he is now incarcerated and not paying child support. My children...one is starting kindergarten this year the other has cerbral palsy and OT-PT- as well as Speech therapy-so i have been written out of work to be with her for now. we recieve a fixed income of less than $900/month...my car that i purchased 2 months ago with tax money has a cracked head and failing transmission...we are currently living with my 70 yr old grandmother who is going to be saling her house and wanted us gone as of yesterday so it is causing tremendous conflict in front of my children. i can afford rent up to $350/month max but need to be in the king NC 27021 area for school and therapy purposes....no preference on bedrooms as long as me and the children can find a safe, stable, decent, home to start healing. please contact me if you can help!!!

My brother and I would like to start a rental property business.  He has some money put aside, but any extra would be nice so that we can do improvements that may be necessary.  The money we hope to earn will go towards our retirements.
